I have the new bridge installed and it was paired to home kit for a couple of days and everything was working properly. After day two HomeKit stopped working and I get the following error: 'Another user already paired the HomeKit enabled bridge. Please ask the user to share his/her HomeKit settings in order for you to start using Siri voice control.' I'm the only user and o don't know ho to share HomeKit settings with myself. I have reset HomeKit configuration numerous times. Please respond with a remedy.
I'm in the same boat. It was working then for some reason it lost it. I've reset everything back to factory mode and had to add all my lights. Still get the error "bridge already paried by another user".
This has been a very frustrating experience!
Hi guys,
Sorry you are experiencing issues. This does sound more like a consumer issue rather than a developer question so you are better off contacting consumer support http://www.meethue.com/support.
I have also forwarded them this post for them to check.
Hue Support - Steve
Steve,
Customer Support told me to contact you because this is a software problem that they can't fix. Please fix it as soon as possible. You developed a cool product, but only if it works.
Chris
Chris,
Many apologies for being sent full circle, I will try my best to ensure this doesn't happen again. I have checked and this has already been reported internally so a fix will come at some point. I have contacted some guys to see if there is a known workaround in the meantime or if they can provide me with more details. I will be in touch if I hear anything.
Hue Support - Steve
I'm on the same boat. Siri was not working for me so I reset it on Settings -> HomeKit. Now I'm stuck seeing this error.
This is REALLY disappointing, Philips.
Same problem here!! please fix AS SOON AS POSSIBILE!!!!!!!
Guys, sorry for the issues. Our devs are looking into it.
A couple of questions. Firstly did you reset the Hue Bridge (aswell as the HomeKit configuration). And if so, did the the issue reappear immediately or after some time?
Hue Support - Steve
i have the same problem. Now for the 2nd time. It is getting very annoying.
To answer your questions, steve.
I reset the Bridge and also my homekit configuration a few times now. The Bridge reset is working, but not the HomeKit Reset in the settings of my iPhone. But i don´t want to reset my bridge again. It takes too much time to set up all lights, scenes and timers. The issue appeared not immediately after the reset. It took my bridge some days. I had it working for a few days without problems. i hope you can fix it soon. If you controled your lights with siri some time, you never want to miss ist. ^^
Hi Edelmaca, Thanks for clarifying, I have passed this information on. We have some people looking at this, so of course I will post an update as soon as have something.
FYI - This issue is also being discussed on the Apple support site: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7275389
Hue Support - Steve
I have this problem too.
I called and spoke with tier 2 HUE Support, they admitted the problem and said they were working on a fix....
How long should this take?
I was told that a factory reset does not even correct the issue..... not to mention having to reprogram all the bulbs and scenes.
(A) I would suggest the Hue team to develop a means to backup the lights / scene configurations....
(B) Fix this homekit debacle....
Its been a month.... patience is one thing , but seriusly , this is a sad state of affair ....
I have an iPhone 6s running iOS 9.1. I also have two iPads on the same account.
I installed the Hue 2.0 hub, transferred the settings, setup HomeKit, and Siri was working. A few minutes later Siri stopped working.
I reset the hub added all of my lights back (~33 lights) and experienced the same problem about 4 hours later. Some folks are reporting that this only occurs on an account with multiple devices.
1. Are there any folks experiencing this issue with only one device on their iCloud account?
2. Also, what software version are you all running?
3. If it’s a HomeKit issue and you’re running the 9.2 public beta, has it cleared up in 9.2?
On another note, this is a seriously disappointing bug. The only reason to upgrade to the new hub is for HomeKit. I was disappointed with the launch of the hub (existing users had to wait a month for discount), the hub discount program/website launch was seriously botched (I spent about 2 hours trying to order a hub), and now the only new feature on the new hub doesn’t work. I think some serious quality control is needed. I will not be recommended this device for friends and family. This whole setup process has probably taken 6-8 hours and it’s unclear if I will have to reset my hub yet another time to fix this. A beta program might be nice and a few sharp Amazon reviews might be needed to set Philips priorities in order.
I'm having the same problem with my Hue Bridge 2.0 "upgrade" as described by the others here. We need a way to backup and restore our configurations. Shame on Philips for releasing such a half-baked product. This needs to be fixed immediately!
As with everyone else here, my new Homekit hub does not work. Siri knows nothing about Hue. I paired the bridge initially, and Siri didn't work. So I tried to pair it again. This time, it says "another user already paired the Homekit enabled bridge", and that's that - with no option to unpair, or further information.
Such inchoate, buggy software is so unlike Philips. Oh, wait. ;-)
Alright -- I'm having the same (sorta) issues as everyone else. I have 2 iPads, 1 iPhone 6 -- all running 9.1, all being managed by same iCloud account. iPhone is main device, we the 2 iPads mounted in the wall, one in living room and one in back hallway. We have 12 lights.
I've created and started an entirely new hue account, set up lights and scenes, all devices can control the lights and scenes (traditionally) without and issue.
Since my iPhone is my main device, I (stupidly, now) set up Siri voice control on it. Siri voice control on my iPhone works perfectly, and I can control all lights, etc. The iPads can still control everything via the app.
The problem is, we bought the updated bridge and mounted the iPads to use the "Hey, Siri" & Siri voice control features of the updated software/hardware. Using "Hey, Siri" on my phone is a little unrealitic as it's rarely plugged in...
Questions:
**UPDATE**
I've went ahead and created seperate iCloud accounts for each iPad and while still using the iPhone as the main device, invited each to the Home. After some fanagleing with the invites, I've gotten it to work. This is still not an ideal situation as I'd like to have the rest of iCloud functionality (iMessage, Notes, etc.) on each of the devices but for the time being it's a workaround.
Rooms do not seem to work. We have the lights set up in our living room, tv room, and my bedroom. Within the app, each room's scenes are seperated by new pages and we have each scene set to only work with the lights we want (by room) but when using Siri, it doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between anything.
Suggestions for updates/fixes:
Hey Steve,
Any news this? It's been a couple of weeks. Can you put us in touch with the developer on the team that develops for Apple? What's the ETA on the API update?
Chris
Bridge 2.0 is a nightmare. Perhaps with 3 bulbs it works fine.. After a full reset of the account ( last attempt to get it to work properly) the app states my bridge is added to another account too.
Add more lights later on to a siri published scene, only initial added lights will change color if requested.
The ticket was forwarded to the dev team, but i haven't received any help yet.
Hi guys,
Am looking at our internal ticket now, there has been a lot of activity and our guys have recently submitted a report/ticket to Apple. Personally, I have had no dealings with Apple, so to be honest am not sure what their usual response time so I can't give you an ETA at the moment as it is out of our hands.
So sorry I can't give you more positive news (or a solution) but this is where we are at the moment. I am getting email notifications of changes to this, so as soon as I have more news I will post here.
Hue Support - Steve
I'm completely lost as to how Hue can continue to sell a product with one key piece of functionality, having known since mid-October it is highly unlikely to work for most users.
Sorry Steve - appreciate all your feedback on this, but the response above simply isn't good enough. Its a Hue product and Hue are selling it as 'homekit' compatible, which it clearly isn't - therefore this is HUE's problem - not ours, not Apples. Consumers shouldn't be left out of pocket with brand new products which simply don't do what they say on the box - thats called mis-selling.
Could you please provide me with the email address of Hue's complaint's department.
Many thanks, Nathan
Hi Nathan,
I appreciate my feedback was not great so apologies for this, but this is where we are at.
Am not sure we have a complaints department, if so I haven't heard of it, but you should direct all your grievances to Consumer Support (link below). These guys deal with consumer issues so should be better equiped to point you in the right direction.

Thanks
Hue Support - Steve
From my (limited) best of understanding, i figured it was Apple related, since the homekit has a connection to the bridge. (i think the error comes from homekit in relation to Siri) Philips has an API or something like that to write in the database of apple (the name of the scenes/lamps, the connection code of your HUE bridge, and it seems philips kan only write in the database and not remove.
Philips knows the bridge is removed, it's easy for them to detect that (since there is a constant connection from philips to your bridge. But apple can't detect if the bridge has been removed or not. it should simple overwrite the settings for the linkage and the names, or at least give an option for that something like 'bridge seems to be linked to another account, are you sure you want to continue' or 'scene name appears to be in use, are you sure you want to continue?'
That would solve the entire problem, but i don't know if apple is open to that.. (i guess now, otherwise your dev team would have implemented this from day 1) ..
I contacted Customer Support - still awaiting a response. So last night I took the plunge and used the 'factory reset button' instead hoping for a miracle.
Said miracle occurred !
Trying to remember what I did to get the thing working just in case it helps anyone else.
1. Factory reset button for +3 seconds
2. Using Hue mobile app, find and link bridge
3. Using mobile app, auto search for lights - took 2 attempts to find them all
4. Clear/Delete all homekit settings from whicher iOS device/account will be controlling the 'Homekit HOME'. Using Hue mobile app, Enable Siri Voice Control
5. Using iOS settings/Homekit, invite other home users to share your homekit settings (so others in my house can also use the Hue system)
6. Login to myhue account and link the bridge so you can control from the webapp
7. Export your scenes by sharing them using Hue app
8. For other iOS devices using the same icloud account - open the hue app and goto siri voice control. Auto message comes up saying 'icloud sync is in progress please try again in a few mins'. The few mins actually took 2 hours!! Be patient, it worked for me.
9. For other iOS devices on different icloud accounts, they need to accept the homekit invite you sent them. But this still didn't work! Then I realised, if they already have a homekit setup, siri will use that by default. They have to delete their own existing homekit option, so the only visible one is the shared one you sent them.
After doing all the above Siri is controlling the lights on my iphone, my ipad, my apple watch, and other ipads in the house which are not under my icloud account.
Excellent - and now I've finally got it working, it works really well, much better than I expected.
My biggest grief with this, was having to figure all this out through trial and error. It should work out of the box following the instructions without having to factory reset and losing the existing settings transfer from your old bridge (you can't re-transfer because the original transfer process tell's you to wipe your old bridge settings).
Which might be okay if you only have 3 lamps. If you have 20+ lamps, spread through your house and connected to another home-domotics system too, this reset is the last thing you want to do..
As I said "It should work out of the box following the instructions without having to factory reset" - but at least we know that a factory reset allows it to actually work, with a few settings tweaks. Far from ideal I agree. Hopefully they'll release a fix soon.
Just read your post more closely.
I did perform a full reset, but the bridge stays connected to the 'other user' also cleared the homekit, even removed the phlips hue account and added it again (and i think this is the problem, since the username is the same, the UID wil be different, causing this issue) In my case this doesn't work. Glad i can control my lights again using my other domotics, but i bought this 2.0 bridge for the soul reason to use siri.
With more than 25 complex configured Hue lamps the advice to " simply reset the bridge" is neither professional nor customer oriented.
All lamps are integrated the RWE Smart Home Solution. In total this "solution" would cost me a full day for re-configuration, not beeing sure that the issue is solved.
I ordered a second (2.0) bridge and contacted Philips to propose a way to migrate fom a V2.0 to another V2.0 bridge (with pre-configured and working HomkeKit) like it was successful between V1 and V2..
The answer after 5 workdays : This is not possible
In the meantime I'm more than aware what all is not possible - I expect a solution. The time for patience is more than over!
It's clear that the bridge 2.0 was nowhere near ready to hit the market. I find it absolutely unprofessional and unconscionable that Philips is continuing to sell these units as they are. They need to be immediately pulled from stores and recalled until the bugs have been fixed for the unit to work as expected and as marketed. The huge problem here is that once you migrate to the new bridge, there is no going back. There is no way to go back to the original bridge so that a buyer can return the faulty bridge 2.0. It's true that this could be possible if you don't do a factory reset on the original bridge. However, the step-by-step instructions on the app ADVISE us to reset the old bridge. There is no suggestion of reasons why one might NOT want to reset the old bridge.
Couldn't agree with you more. It's plain absurd that a product with this number of issues is released to the public. I'd expect philips to sell a product that is thoroughly tested; it's clearly not the case with this product. A solution seems to be miles away, i've reported it over a week ago, and still haven't received a reply other than 'forwarded to technical staff'.
You can expect an early adopter to buy this product to have more lamps, and probable a home domotics system that depends on the bridge.
Another weird thing; philips account was deleted and added again, App was removed and added too (IOS). The old bridge was still visible on the netwerk, according to the app. while the old bridge has been reset (with the app stating the reset was succesful), powered down and disconnected from the network.. Few days later this changed; now 2 of the new bridges are visible in the app (same ID) while searching on the network.
Anyone else noticed the old bridge was still visible, allthough it has been reset/removed/disconnected?
The transfer from my old bridge to the new one worked perfect. Without any struggle and problems. It worked fine for some days and then the problems began. Now I have the new bridge and I have to use it like the old one. Without HomeKit.
Today I had an update for the HUE App to do, but this update didn't fix the problem for me. :-(
"Another user (me) already paired the HomeKit enables bridge (With my iPad Air 2). Please ask the user (me) to share his/her Homekit settings in order for you (me) to start using Siri voice control (on my iPhone 6S Plus)". Please let us know HOW we are going to quit seeing this screen and just let us use our multiple Apple devices with the same iCloud account. Thanks!
Edit 11/24/15! Sooooo I broke down and purchases the 50gbs for 99 cents a month storage option from iCloud. I turned off MOST of what gets backed up in iCloud for both my 64gb iPhone 6S Plus and 64gp iPad Air 2 and after a few hours of backing up my phone and ipad now speak to Siri. I also had no issues with sending an invite to my girlfriend's iCloud ID for her ipads in the house!
I arrive here after recently sinking a *lot* of money (20+ bulbs) and time into Hue, only to find it completely falls over at the slightest whiff of real life usage. Heaven forbid I have more than one device signed into my iCloud account. My reward for this is the same error as everybody else: "Another user already paired the HomeKit enabled bridge.".
I'm not above voting with my wallet and loudly taking all this untested stuff back to the store. This is absolutely disgusting.
Bought new bridge solely for the HomeKit feature.
Had HomeKit Isses and needed to reset my HomeKit Settings via iPhone.
Now unable to pair the bridge again ("already paired by another user").
We need an option to unpair the bridge, forget the HomeKit settings or whatever NOW!!!
And: resetting the Bridge and re-creating the whole config is no option!!!
I am having the same problem as everyone else. When Hue gets a fix, will the people on this post get an autmatic notification on how to get this thing working properly??
Very frustrated!!
Same problem. Got a 2.0 kit last week and Siri was working fine. Added 3 more bulbs a day later and ran into the multiple issues. Signing out of iCloud resolved the sync issue but now I'm at the "bridge paired with another account" glitch. Not ready to wipe it clean as I suspect it will resurface. This is the sort of thing you expect to avoid when you pay a premium. If I wanted to deal with "hacks" solutions I would have gone another route.
Having the same issues here. First had the sync issues and tried signing in and out of iCloud. Now having paired with another user issue even thought I'm the only user. Considering this is the ONLY reason I purchased the new bridge, I'm very frustrated.
Seems to me there needs to be a software solution to reset the HomeKit settings only, without having to do a factory reset and lose all other settings.
come on guys. There has to be an update for us. A date for the next update. Some small words or ideas why this all is happening at all. Let us know what you are doing. Your consumer communication is to bad for a company that big. Every small student could do better.
I completely agree with you regards to an update and am sure I would be as equally frustrated if I was in your position, but please also bear in mind this is the 3rd party developers forum/site and not consumer support. The last I heard on this were our guys were working with Apple on fixing this. In any case, I will see if I can get a further update also but you are better off contacting consumer (meethue) support for this.
Hue Support - Steve
Just setup my bridge 2.0. After the initial setup Siri wasn't working. I erased my Homekit settings on my iPhone (Settings>Homekit) and now I're receivng the same error others have mentioned here. It is a frustrating experience for a new product!
raised a ticket at the philips support 3 weeks ago.
Not a single reply other than 'forwarded to tech department'. Every other reply by me in that same support-ticket is being COMPLETELY ignored. no update what so ever. It doesn't feel right.
I think it's apples homekit that is acting up, time for philips to go over to apple with bats and sticks to get this hue party started..
I have the same issue with 3 ios devices sharing the same iCloud account. My bridge worked perfectly with Siri for a few hours and then the "Bridge already paired" error occured. Its been 3 weeks. I have 23 bulbs and am not risking a factory reset to end up here again. But my question... My devices keep telling me there's a new bridge update. I click to update and a status bar shows up. When it completes, it says I have the latest update but my firmware hasn't changed. Then a few hours later I get the same message that I have a new update. I've been going in circles on all 3 devices since around 3 pm est last night. Anyone else getting this?
No, on my bridge the update worked and I'm not getting the message of 'update available' again.
I did hope the update solve all that problems I had. It didn't.
Does anybody have the same, beside that main topic issue?
Without login with my Apple ID in iCloud all is working. Siri is answer my like "All lights off". The scences can be exported. Persons can be invited to Homekit. It not works, but it's possible to invite. After I login to ICloud Siri answer "lamps not answer", scences can't be exported ("too much lamps"- just 3?), inviting not possible "Wait for Datasync".
No way to get Siri to work with Hue lamps with a second or third (own!) iOS device, special not on apple TV 4
I guess there is a major problem with that Homekit, keychain, Apple ID or whatever.
Anybody else had this experiance or maybe get it sloved? Resets already done a LOT times.
@bic321; update to IOS9.2, it's out now.
Received a reply from Philips;
Error: Sharing of HomeKit configuration fails
should be solved with iOS 9.2
Error: iCloud syncing in progress
should be solved with iOS 9.2
Error: Bridge already paired
Should be solved in the new HUE app being released mid/end December
@ Serum,
Sorry for the delay of my reply. I just want see if it works after update to iOS 9.2 stable and durable.
Good news: it does!
- Siri answer now such as "lights on"
- remote access by Siri possible
- inviting to homekit is now possible from Hue App
- secenes can be exported
- Hue with Siri now working on all my iOS devices (except apple TV 4)
- no more Datasync issue (Just it do need some minutes)
Fun is back. It's great. Many thanks for your advice. For those which still fighting with it: I had to reset everything: apple ID, Homkit, Bridge. Also it didn't work first time. But at second. And it need some time for the backup and Datasync. Make sure you have enough space in Icloud.
Just what's left: Anybody knows any about Siri with Hue at ATV 4? Or at least the App for it?
The error "iCloud syncing in progress" is not solved with iOS 9.2 by just updating your devices. I was able to "advance" to "Bridge already paired" after deleting my iCloud settings through all my three devices, trying to switch off everthing related to Hue and HomeKit and finally turning iCloud and Hue/HomeKit related stuff on again - with one device still telling me I have to wait for the iCloud sync. All this behaviour concerning the progress of fixing a bug for a feature which is just the main reason I bought a new bridge ist simply ridiculous.
I would expect that poor support (and could understand it) when relying on an open source platform with no additional cost or at least a voluntary donation on my side because people are trying to establish something based on passion or simply a hobby, but absolutely not after paying some hundred bucks to a company which (by it's history) should know how marketing and releasing a product should work. Seeing how many people are having the same problem after weeks (!) without any solution at all or at least some sort of professional communication (nothing against you, "Hue Support - Steve", I appreciate you're trying to keep us informed) is absolutely embarrassing and a loss of face for a company which was known for it's name - and yes, I can live with the "hey, we're not developing the Smart TV firmware, it's TP Vision's fault!" story.
I broke down and did a factory reset of my bridge. I set everything up on my phone and everything works correctly and Siri accepts command. Its been working for 4 days. However I have 2 iPads that aren't synced to the bridge so the Hue app is useless on them. If I pair one of these ipads to the bridge, will I get the "Bridge already paired" error? Does anyone know the exact step that breaks Homekit? I'd like to have my iPad apps going but don't want to lose homekit again.
Homekit is one of the worst things Apple ever botched up. Announced with iOS 8 and still not working properly after more than a year. Just lost all HomeKit configuration with 9.2 upgrade, and it seems I am not the only one: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7372050
I guess Philips cannot do much more than relying on Apple to finally start fixing HomeKit. It would definitely have been better if bridge 2.0 would have had more USPs than just some 3rd party integration Philips has only little influence on...
As unrelieable as HomeKit is today, I am not willing to allow Apple to take an essential role in my home automation, that one's for sure...! Philips, please take the chance and make something up that actually works and let Apple be the beautiful way to spend much money for average accessoires they have become in the last years. Come up soon with something great as a compensation for this mess!
Edit: fixed link.
You've posted a link to a closed thread about an mbp temperature monitor on the apple forum from 2006. :)
Someone tried the new iOS Beta 9.2.1? Maybe theres a fix included for our problem.
9.2.1 doesn't solve this 'paired with other user' issue.
So.. 2 os versions later, 2 hue updates later, the issue is still present. The main reason for buying this hub was siri. Let's hope Homey is soon capable of handling the hue bulbs without the bridge. That would solve everything at once. No longer depending on the bridge or the homekit,
Hi,
Since bridge API version 1.11, there is an option to factoryreset the HomeKit part of the Philips Hue 2.0 Bridge.
You can do this by sending (PUT) the following JSON to http://<ip-address.of.the.bridge>/api/<username>/config:
We hope this will solve your pairing issues.
